Vourvoukeli Estate
The Vourvoukeli Estate was founded out of Vourvoukeli family love for the historical region of Avdira and wine. With a vision for the revival of ancient native grape varieties, Nikos and Flora Vourvoukelis were the first and only ones in the region to start cultivation in 1999, planting the first vineyard on the fertile hills after many years. The unique microclimate of Avdira is ideal for viticulture, as the summer months’ experience minimal necessary rainfall and low nighttime temperatures, creating a dry and cool environment, perfect for the proper ripening of grapes.
In just a few years, the Vourvoukelis Estate has established itself in the wine world and now exports to 10 countries, bringing to the forefront varieties that were leaning towards extinction, such as Pamidi, Limnio, Damiaty, and Mavroudi. Nikos Vourvoukeli’s vision for the reintegration of Avdira’s vineyards into Greece’s wine map has become a reality.
